Sandor Dudas is a staff member of the Canadian National and OIE Reference Laboratory for BSE. Mr. Dudas works under the well-known and respected BSE expert, Dr. Stefanie Czub. Shortly after starting his position with Dr. Czub in 2006, Sandor moved into a role overseeing molecular TSE research being conducted at their laboratory in Alberta, Canada. The research interests of the laboratory focus primarily on risk assessment and improving prion detection methods. Several ongoing projects include examining age related susceptibility/resistance in oral BSE challenges of cattle and exploring genetic factors of BSE. With the detection of all three types of BSE in Canada we are also very interested in how classical and atypical BSE differ and the risks atypical BSE pose to food safety.
